We recommend adding subtitles in hihaho. This offers a few useful advantages:

  • You can allow viewers to turn subtitles on or off.

  • You can add subtitles in multiple languages.

  • Spot a mistake? Simply open the subtitle editor and make your adjustment.

In this article, you will discover how to add subtitle files to your interactive video and how to create these files.

Add subtitles

You can find the subtitle feature under your video settings.

Option 1: Auto-generate subtitles with AI

A single click on the Generate button creates subtitles in your video’s original language. After generating, you can manually fine-tune the subtitles if needed. You can then click the Translate button to add as many subtitle languages as you like.

⚠ Don't see this feature in your account? Maybe this option is not enabled for your account. Contact us through chat or email to info@hihaho.com for more information.

Tip: Generate interactions based on your subtitles

Transcribing your video opens up many more possibilities for your video. Based on your added subtitles, you can generate more interactions like a table of contents or open-ended questions.

Option 2: Select from video

When you're making a video interactive from an Online Video Platform like Vimeo or Qumu, and your video already has subtitles there, it's possible to import this subtitle track. When your platform is not compatible for the transfer of subtitle tracks, this option will be unavailable.

Option 3. Upload a subtitle file

Add an SRT file or WebVTT file.

SRT files and WebVTT files are text files that are used along with a specific format for video data. Any text editor can be used to open SRT files. Creating these files in a text editor is time-consuming and mistakes are easy to make. Check this article to solve common problems.
